£60,000 to £75,000 per annum dependent on experience.

North Foreland Golf Club sits proudly atop the cliffs of Kent’s coastline near Broadstairs, offering stunning sea views and a rich golfing heritage dating back to 1903. The club features two beautifully maintained courses — the championship Main Course and the par-3 Northcliffe Course — both playable year-round thanks to excellent natural drainage. With a welcoming clubhouse, convivial hospitality, and a reputation as a Final Qualifying venue for The Open Championship, North Foreland blends tradition, challenge, and community. Role Overview

The General Manager will be the driving force behind the leadership, culture, and operational success of the club. This pivotal position carries responsibility for the smooth day-to-day running of all areas, from membership and staffing to the clubhouse, course, and commercial activity.

As the club’s principal ambassador, the General Manager will inspire a positive, professional, and inclusive atmosphere. They will work closely with committees, members, and partners to deliver a high-quality experience that reflects the club’s values, vision, and community spirit. The role calls for strong leadership, commercial awareness, and an approachable, outgoing personality capable of engaging and uniting a diverse membership base.

The successful candidate will take full ownership of administration, financial management, and people leadership, ensuring that the club operates efficiently, profitably, and harmoniously - both on and off the course.

Key Responsibilities

Leadership & Operations

- Oversee the smooth, effective running of all club operations, including golf, clubhouse, hospitality, and events.

- Lead by example, fostering a culture of teamwork, pride, and accountability across all departments.

Member Experience & Culture

- Create a warm, welcoming, and inclusive atmosphere where members and guests feel valued.

- Champion initiatives that build engagement, unity, and a sense of belonging across the membership.

- Be a visible and approachable presence around the club, promoting positive communication and feedback.

Commercial & Financial Management

- Prepare and manage budgets, control expenditure, and maximise revenue across all income streams (green fees, events, memberships).

- Identify and develop new commercial opportunities to strengthen financial sustainability.

Team Development

- Recruit, mentor, and motivate staff, nurturing a high-performing and customer-focused team.

- Encourage professional development and recognise individual and collective achievements.

Course & Facilities Management

- Oversee and support the Course Manager in delivering the highest standards of course presentation.

- Oversee clubhouse maintenance, presentation, and service quality in all member-facing areas.

Marketing, Events & Communications

- Promote the club locally and regionally through marketing, partnerships, and community engagement.

- Support the delivery of successful golf days, functions, and social events that bring members together.

Governance & Compliance

- Ensure full compliance with all legal, regulatory, and governance obligations, including Health & Safety, licensing, and GDPR.

- Support the Club Committee in the effective delivery of strategic goals.

Person Specification

Essential:

- Proven leadership experience in golf club or hospitality management.

- Commercially astute with strong budgeting, reporting, and P&L management skills.

- Excellent communicator with a confident, outgoing personality and strong interpersonal skills.

- Demonstrable success in building inclusive, integrated, and harmonious membership communities.

- Skilled in team management, HR processes, and staff development.

- Competent in IT systems, ideally including Intelligent Golf.

Desirable:

- Experience in marketing, community outreach, or brand development.

- Understanding of golf course maintenance and operations.

- Knowledge of club governance, capex projects, and compliance frameworks.
